MAY/JUNE 1998

It is difficult to know where to begin to describe a month-long trip that combined the usual tourist activities with family visits, and in the case of Macedonia, living and working for two weeks in country next door to a small war. The "daughters" [and their families] were the heart of the trip. Their kindness, as well as each of their struggles to deal with the realities of their lives and their countries raised emotions not ordinarily experienced in travel. Elvira was able to join us in Macedonia for 4 days and Klara travelled the 2 hours from Brno to Vienna to spend a day and night with us on our return from Macedonia.

And YES. The Macedonian tomatoes are STILL wonderful!
